Overview

La Baronnie Gite is a traditional French rustic Gite with stunning hillside views.

About the Property

La Baronnie Gite is a stunning conversion, originally from an animal stables and offers accommodation for up to 6 people. There is a wonderful pool over-looking the valley with breath-taking hillside views. On arrival guests are provided with a welcome pack of essentials and wine.

The Gite hosts 3 bedrooms, two of which are doubles, one of which has an en-suite. The other bedroom has twin beds and there is also a lovely family bathroom. All the bedrooms are beautifully decorated to offer a real home from home feeling. All rooms have a hair-dryer and a cot bed is available on request. There is also a safe in one of the bedrooms.

Downstairs comprises of a living room separated from a large kitchen-dining room by traditional stalls. There is wifi available as well as satellite TV and a DVD player. For entertainment there is also a selection of board games as well as two mountain bikes and helmets for the more active amongst you. There is extensive WiFi through the property and gardens including the pool area.

Outside there are endless views to be enjoyed from the terrace and of course the beautiful heated pool. Pool towels are provided during your stay. There is also a Weber charcoal BBQ and private patio to enable you to enjoy the joy of al fresco dining or perhaps a cocktail as the sun goes down. The garden in lit by more than 100 pretty little lights.

Only 1.5km away is one of the best restaurants in the area called Le Bistrot D'Epicure. This is well worth a visit and we have had many memorable nights here. There is also the beautiful chateaux of Beynac, Castelnaud and Milandes close by. One visit not to miss is the Jardins des Marquessac which is simply magical, lit by candlelight on a Thursday evening.

Personal recommendation from the owners: "We love to visit Chateau des Milandes, 7km away and have season tickets! The gardens are beautiful and the chateau is a museum of former owner singer Josephine Baker. We also love the local Sunday morning market in St Cyprien where you can have a coffee or glass of wine and watch the world go by."

A hand picked welcome pack including local wine will be ready for your arrival.

A truly fabulous holiday awaits....

Reviews

We really cannot find fault with this property and we spent a wonderful week enjoying all its facilities and our hosts hospitality and knowledge. Every comfort has been thoughtfully provided from the very well equipped kitchen to the beautifully appointed pool area. The region is beautiful with all the important sights within easy driving distance. The local little town has a good supermarket and a couple of bar/restaurants and an excellent market on Sundays. This property is more suited to people with no mobility issues as the stairs are quite steep in the property and the gardens and pool area are on different levels - however we found this enhanced our enjoyment of the gite. The area beside the gite was a lovely space to cook on the bbq and sit and enjoy the lovely balmy evenings. The property is sub divided into three different accommodation spaces which share the pool - something to bear in mind if you want complete privacy but it certainly did not affect our enjoyment of the gite.
We live in South Africa but have younger family residing in the U K & Guernsey . We took a chance on this locality and booked it for three weeks —— and it more than exceeded our expectations . We ALL arrived on the same day and the first evening were invited to join “ our hostes “ to a “ welcoming “ party !!! And it just got better from there . The area is beautiful and full of interest and Shona and Steve’s knowledge , enthusiasm and interest is revealed in the biggest welcome package we have ever seen . Day to day : a super boulangerie - 1 1/2 Kim’s A first class , butchery 2 Kms In St Cyprian 2 supermarkets which are well stocked In addition in the surrounding towns and villages there is a great selection of coffee shops and restaurants . The three castles in the immediate vicinity are ALL worth a visit ( because os the vast amount of money that has been spent on them ) because they now show what they were like to live in — “ history alive “ A location to be recommended
Extremely well-appointed and outfitted gite with quite extraordinary hosts--Shona and Steve--and an amazing view. Also, superbly located close to many great sites, restaurants and things to do. We were warmly received and Shona and Steve were available to answer questions, provide recommendations and information about the area.
La Baronnie is perfectly situated for guests to access the Dordogne's best activities, cultural and heritage sights. The property has stunning views towards the river and the facilities are very good; sympathetic but with all modern conveniences. Shona & Steve are superb hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We have now visited La Baronnie three times and intend to return again in the future.
We spent a lovely week at La Baronnie Gite. After a delayed and long trip from Calais, it was a welcome relief to see Shona and Steve waiting to greet us at the gate and they very kindly had bought us a few supplies to keep us going!! The gite is gorgeous with beautiful views, clean and has everything you need whilst staying there. Close enough to plenty of places to visit so didn’t have to travel far! And the pool kept the children happy and was well needed in order to cool down every day! Shona and Steve were really welcoming and offered plenty of advice on where to visit! Thank you for a great week away!
The gite is beautiful, with stunning views and great outdoor eating area. The pool is fantantastic.Inside the gite is well equipped, comfortable and spacious. It also has great character. It is in a great location near to lots of attractions such as Beynac Castle, Sarlat and Domme. The village next door, St Cyprien, is pretty with a large supermarket. Shona snd Steve are very welcoming and their hospitality really added to the whole fantastic experience. I thoroughly recommend the gite.
It isn't often that you can genuinely rate a gîte 10/10 in every category but Shona and Steve have created the perfect environment and ensure that every guest enjoys their stay. La Petite Baronnie is an ideal place to relax, situated in the heart of the Dordogne with so many interesting things to do and places to visit. The gîte more than lived up to its description and contained just about everything you could need. There's even a welcome basket, to get you started. The nearby village of St Cyprien has some good restaurants and a main supermarket, as well as a colourful Sunday market. Nearby, there's also canoeing on the Dordogne River, giving you a different perspective of the chateaûx dotted along the banks. Shona and Steve are certainly good hosts for whom nothing is too much trouble. We would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to enjoy a visit to this beautiful region of France.
La Petite Baronnie is an excellent gite. It is every bit as good as advertised and a great credit to the owners Steve and Shona. Their attention to detail is evident throughout; everything is considered, clean and works, and the property has been set up to a high standard of comfort and aesthetics. Everyone in our family party of 50-something adults and late teen daughters thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is stunning, and convenient to shops and services, with no shortage of activities, visits and interest all within very easy driving distance. Steve and Shona provide a great welcome and very helpful and thorough local information and guidance - great support on site without any sense of intrusion. We'd recommend this property to anyone and would love to stay again. There are relatively steep open wooden stairs from the ground floor to the bedrooms, bathroom, toilets etc, so visitors with concerns for physical accessibility need to be aware of that (however no obstacle for the vast majority).
