Le Sauvignon is quintessentially a one bedroom gite set in 53 acres of vineyards and farmland along with other gites near the pretty town of Issigeac.
This charming cottage sleeps two and has an en-suite bathroom. Outside the property is a huge solar heated swimming pool and a generous terrace with beautiful views over the vineyards.
France’s Dordogne valley is filled with some of the most picturesque villages, cities and towns in all the land, but Issigeac is like stepping into a French fairytale. The town is beautiful to walk around with medieval buildings and narrow streets to wander through.
Le Sauvignon is one of seven stone built properties bursting with character. Set within 53 acres of farmland and vineyards, it sits so snugly into the landscape it looks like it is part of it. You can help yourself to an abundance of grapes, figs and cherries during the summer months growing in the delightful surrounding gardens. There is a great deal of wildlife in the area and three ponds within the grounds. These are home to goldfish and frogs who will sing to you in spring and summer.
Restored by the current owners over the past 30 years, this fascinating county estate has been a complete labour of love. The care and attention to detail spills out into the house with beautiful touches inside and out. Inside the property there are gorgeous wooden beams, exposed stone walls and rustic wooden doors. Outside, flowers emerge from old oak wine barrels and there are intricate iron bridges leading to the vineyard.
Glass doors open out onto a private courtyard overlooking the pretty gardens and the swimming pool, and make the most of the stunning panoramic views. Enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace and enjoy al fresco dining with local produce and wines from the estate vineyard. This property oozes character and charm to make you feel at home as soon as you arrive.
Le Sauvignon is a perfect getaway for those seeking a quiet and restful holiday, a place to unwind and recharge the batteries. The owners have a no children policy which keeps the noise level to clinking glasses and gentle after-lunch snoring, with occasional tinkles of laughter. Why not eat out at local restaurants recommended by the owners or enjoy an organised walking trip during your stay.
Only 4km from Le Sauvignon is the picturesque medieval town of Issigeac. Issigeac is famous for its Sunday market and narrow streets lined with half-timber houses. Bergerac is a 20 minute drive and is renowned for its art as well as its wine making and chocolate shops. While away hours in the square in the old town which is filled with cafes and restaurants.
The owners of Le Sauvignon say guests will enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Dordogne and sensational views of the Dordogne countryside.
