Chez le Charpentier, like its sister property at Le Clos du Verger, has been beautifully renovated with traditional exposed stone walls and offers a real home from home feel.. With a welcome basket of local goodies for you to enjoy on arrival, the owners have thought of everything you could need for your holiday, from books and games to DVDs and a guide to the local area.
The two bedrooms sleeping up to three guests are comfortable and inviting. The stairs to the first floor may be difficult for those with mobility problems, so although most people manage them, please check with us if you think this may be an issue, or if your party includes very young children. The spacious bedrooms, modern bathroom and comfortable living area provide plenty of space for everyone to relax. A charming pergola and outdoor seating area in the enclosed garden give guests a lovely outdoor space to relax and eat. This countryside setting provides a calming and tranquil atmosphere, perfect for that well-deserved holiday.
Beyond the gîte a path drops down gently to the stream. You will meander along the “Wild Walk”, past the orchids, wild flowers and trees which lay the way to seating by the stream. What a gloriously rustic place to enjoy tucking into a good book, lulled by the sound of the little waterfall behind you! Return via the "apple walk" and the goat meadows. There is an informal ball games area down by the stream with a badminton net and other outside games for those who want to enjoy some fun. If you are keen to explore the local area there are vineyards up the hill, a choice of village restaurants, a swimming lake within the country park just 10 minutes away from the property, canoeing on the Dordogne, and heading 10 minutes towards the forests is a treetop adventure park.
The bustling town of Bergerac is only a short drive away, where you can enjoy a walk through the old town, browse the many shops, enjoy a meal or even perhaps a cruise along the river. This really is an ideal location for those wanting to explore and enjoy all that the Dordogne region has to offer. In the summer months the cultural programme and activities at the old port are definitely well worth a visit. If you enjoy a glass of wine then why not explore the local vineyards, many of which offer wine tasting tours.
A fantastic location and beautifully renovated property, this really is where wonderful memories can be made.
