Overview

A traditional 4 bedroom farmhouse with modern finishings providing everything you would need for a wonderful family holiday. The Farmhouse is brilliantly located near the popular medieval towns of the southern Dordogne which come alive in the summer with a hive of activity, events and festivals.

About the Property

The farmhouse has four bedrooms, three on the first floor with an en-suite bedroom on the ground floor. If required there is a sofa bed on the first floor and cots for babies can be provided. The property enjoys a fully equipped kitchen dining room and a large lounge with a dining table. Both UK and French satellite TV channels are available, as well as a DVD player.

For a relaxing evening drink there is a gorgeous sunny south facing terrace, accessed from the lounge, equipped with dining table, barbeque and parasol. The Farmhouse and Chai share the 12 x 6 metre swimming pool with Roman steps with it's own large pool house and covered terrace with stunning views and sun throughout the day. For some family fun there is a range of games are available including table tennis, a trampoline, badminton, swing- ball and boules.

Superbly situated for touring both the Dordogne and the bastide towns of the beautiful Lot et Garonne countryside, the property is only a half hour drive from several excellent 18-hole golf courses. There is a wealth of leisure activities in the area including horse riding, canoeing and kayaking, vineyard visits, traditional local markets, karting, water-parks and swimming lakes.

This area of old Aquitaine has a picture postcard village on every corner with wonderful towns bursting with history and interesting features. There are many chateaux within easy travelling distance and the countryside is amongst the finest in France. There are also wonderful walks on the doorstep.

The owners highly recommend the bustle of the local French markets, all taking place in villages and towns dating back to the 12th century, and there are of course, a wealth of local restaurants where you can enjoy some superb food. Most of the local villages hold "night markets" where you can dine on local food and wine, or perhaps try one of the many "tables d'hotes."

Wine estates are nearby, and wine tasting tour to local vineyards or to Saint Emilion can be arranged, one of the great Bordeaux wines.

A wonderful holiday awaits…

Reviews

"The covered patio makes a great living and eating area - beautiful sunsets from there and only a few short steps to the pool. Or back to the kitchen for more food and drink."Great cycling country too. Castillones is a relaxed and friendly bastide and Monpazier, Eymet and Bergerac within easy reach."
"This is the perfect relaxing get away oozing with character, comfort and charm. A romantic hide away, where we could have stayed for far longer than a week. Great location, with so many historic towns and markets within short drives. Mick the host was incredibly helpful with local tips and anything we needed but also in helping us sort our car issues - he went above and beyond. We'd definitely go back!"
