Overview

As featured in Channel 4 Series 3 of "A New Life in the Sun", La Grande Maison is a large charming 17th Century farmhouse set in the Dordogne countryside with gorgeous pool and accommodation for up to 18 guests. With the sweet two bedroom cottage and the chic one bedroom gite, a maximum of 24 can be accommodated.

About the Property

This large farmhouse started life as a 17th Century Perigordine farm and was first converted into an Auberge in the early 1990's. In the perfect location, situated close to Eymet and Bergerac it is a fantastic place for a family holiday or large group of friends. The location is perfect for exploring the Dordogne region being close to the bustling market towns of Eymet and Issigeac. The Dordogne is the land of 1000 chateaux with endless fabulous places to visit or perhaps go for an exciting canoe trip down the river Dordogne. You will love the night markets which become a hive of activity with plenty of local produce to try and live music to enjoy.

The 6 large bedrooms are beautifully decorated in keeping with the period and style of the house. Oak beams and stone walls create a wonderful retreat and cool place to escape the heat of the summer sun. A large kitchen and separate dining room provide ample space for the family to gather with a huge lounge, ideal for evening entertaining.

Outside, the property has a large swimming pool, with a sprawling garden and fishing lake to explore. For those more energetic amongst you, there is a giant outdoor chess board, table tennis, boules/petanque pitch, badminton/volleyball net and swing-ball. The local area is great for cycling and bird watching for those who are keen to leave their lounger.

The owners purchased La Petite Auberge in June 2016 to start a new life in France. It had always been their dream and they are passionate about making you feel extra special during your stay. Whilst all the gites are self catering, Paul has been classically trained in some of the top London restaurants and, as such, can offer guests meals for special occasions at an agreed set price. There is a minimum of 3 nights stay for winter bookings and 4 nights minimum stay for summer bookings.

If you are looking for somewhere special to tie the knot, they can offer a bespoke wedding package.

Experience everything the Dordogne region can offer at this wonderful holiday home.

Reviews

"The gite is perfect. We were a mixed group of 13 travelling to a wedding nearby but made a holiday of it. The facilities are clean and ideal for large groups. Paul and Lisa were very good hosts but at the same time provided privacy."
"Wonderful scenery and friendly, helpful, considerate owners. Would recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in glorious countryside. Close to local village and town and only 30 min from Bergerac."
"A warm welcome awaited us from Paul and Lisa who had just taken over the property and they were so helpful throughout our stay. Stunning accommodation which Paul and Lisa intend to upgrade. The family loved every minute of our time there and look forward to returning some time in the future."
