Le Charpentier is a stylish and modern barn conversion for 4 people within the buildings of Le Clos du Verger. It is one of two attractive holiday properties with beautiful gardens. Le Charpentier enjoys a very well-appointed interior and makes a great rural base being just 5 minutes from Bergerac.
About the property
Le Charpentier like its sister property at Le Clos du Verger has been beautifully renovated with traditional exposed stone walls yet boasts a modern, fresh interior. With a welcome basket of local goodies for you to enjoy on arrival, the owners have thought of everything you could need for your holiday, from books and games to DVDs and a guide to the local area.
The two bedrooms sleeping up to four guests are comfortable and inviting which offers a real home from home feel. The spacious bedrooms, modern bathroom and comfortable living area provide plenty of space for everyone to relax. A charming pergola and outdoor seating area gives guests a truly secluded space to enjoy an evening meal as the sun goes down. This countryside setting provides a calming and tranquil atmosphere, perfect for that well-deserved holiday.
Beyond the gite through the enclosed garden and lawned area, the path drops down gently to a stream. Keep going past the "apple walk" and the goat meadows, you will meander past the orchids and wild flowers which lay the way to some small trees. What a glorious place to enjoy tucking into a good book. Away from the property there is an informal ball games area for those who want to enjoy some fun, providing a fantastic location with the sound of the local waterfall in the background. If you are keen to explore the local area there is a swimming lake within the country park just 10 minutes away from the property.
The bustling town of Bergerac is only a short drive away, where you can enjoy a walk through the town, browse the many shops, enjoy a meal or even perhaps a cruise along the river. This really is an ideal location for those wanting to explore and enjoy all that the Dordogne region has to offer. In the summer months the cultural programme and activities at the old port are definitely well worth a visit. If you enjoy a glass of wine then why not explore the local vineyards, many of which offer wine tasting tours.
A fantastic location and beautifully renovated property, this really is where wonderful memories can be made.
There are many wonderful reviews, but this one really does describe how fantastic our sister property Le Chai is;
"The Chai was like a home away from home. Seriously, from the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home, and relaxed. Jane has achieved this by paying attention to detail - like comfy beds, good quality linens, comfortable sofas etc. - and the decor of the gite, which was not austere and cold, and not fussy and cluttered either - just the right balance. The welcome pack waiting for us was very generous, and thoughtful (I won't tell you what there was, as it's nice to get a surprise!) Also, it was lovely to have the outdoor terrace to listen to the birdsong and stream while enjoying our wine and cheese. Jane (and her husband) were perfect hosts - there if you needed help, but not obtrusive. The location of The Chai is excellent, being only 5-10 minutes from Bergerac, and in an area which is surrounded by stunning places to visit - La Roque-Gageac, Sarlat-la-Caneda, Issigeac to name a few. In summary, The Chai is a wonderful place to stay, and I would not hesitate in recommending it."
